It's a heavy steel plate that hooks into a dog hole on the bench and hangs over the front edge. Using the anvil attachment you can flatten a hinge or bend a steel rod without wrecking your beautiful woodworking bench.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe anvil attachment has a steel rod(or lug) that slides into a dog hole to hold it in place.
