Mueller's Biber Classic Splitting Wedges are hand-forged from tough, high-grade steel for durability. Both versions that we carry weigh 2 kg (4.4 lb) and are 24 cm (9-7/16") long.
The standard wedge has a 5 cm (1-15/16") cutting edge and the standard splitting wedge shape. This is the wedge you'll want if you're splitting a big block into strips for riving or shaping into furniture parts.
The twisted wedge has a 4 cm (1-9/16") cutting edge and is twisted about 90° along its length. As it is driven into a log it "screws" itself in - helping to force the log apart more quickly. This is the wedge you'll want if you're splitting a log for firewood and you're looking for speed.
