Lie Nielsen's Low Angle Jack Plane is based on the Stanley 62. With its 14" long cast ductile iron body and heavy 2" wide by 3/16" thick iron bedded (bevel up) at just 12°; this plane's low cutting angle (~37°) lets it slice wood fibers without effort, especially on end grain. An adjustable sole plate allows fine-tuning the throat opening to nearly eliminate tear out when planing surface grain. Bronze cap iron & cherry handles complete the package.
There are three types of irons available (one standard iron comes with the plane), the standard iron with a 25° bevel, toothing iron and the scraping iron. You can also grind a steeper angle (33° to 38°) on another standard blade to have a cutting action more like a smoothing plane.
Blade Width is 2". Overall Length of sole is 14". Width of sole is 2-1/2". Weighs 4.55 lb. Made in the U.S.A.
